Winter: Durga

Another Indian deity, as well as another older piece of work. This was for a calender project for my illustration class (you can clearly see the calender at the bottom) and if you look here you can see another image from the same series. Sort of.

This represents Durga, badass warrior goddess gifted with the talents of all the other warrior gods. Her mount is a tiger, as you can plainly see here, a siberian white to go along with the "winter" theme. Does anyone see the important indian symbol hidden in his stripes? Anyway, tigers generally aren't this fat. Obviously goofy drawing on my part.

The mixed media is about as mixed as humanly possible. The different shapes are cut from pieces of scrapbooking paper, stretched, Yes glued down to construction paper and run through a printmaking press to flatten them. Then I drew back into them with tech pens, a crow quill, and a paint pen in some spots to give it some metalic ink flair that does not reproduce nor scan well. Then I drew into it with watercolor pencils, smearing the colors with my own spit because I was too lazy or timid to use a brush.
